Jeanne Cotroneo Darrow

Jeanne Cotroneo Darrow

Jeanne is an award-winning writer and versatile sought-after marketer who founded Working With Words, LLC in 2001 after gaining several years of experience in publishing, editorial and communications roles on Wall Street. She quickly realized her profound corporate storytelling skills and passion for business writing. As head of her women-owned content marketing agency, she combines her B2B and B2C marketing experience and creative edge with her entrepreneurial zest, thoughtfulness and keen ability to multitask and harness resources to get projects over the finish line and deliver client results.

Her first job out of college was with Standard & Poor’s, a division of McGraw-Hill, where she worked her way up, in just four years, to Managing Editor of CreditWeek, its flagship credit publication. Her talents took her across town to the NYSE, the world’s largest financial marketplace, where, as Director of Editorial Services, she was responsible for all executive speeches (including those for then Chairman and CEO Dick Grasso), correspondence and corporate publications, including annual reports, newsletters and NYSE Magazine, a publication she conceptualized and launched in 2000 to build community among the NYSE-listed company family and showcase the leadership, business and market trends shaping the broader financial community.

The Exchange remained Jeanne’s number-one client for 13 years, during which she managed the magazine and evolved it into an iPad app and a global website to adapt to changing marketing technologies. During that time, she conducted numerous executive interviews, the most memorable of which were with Warren Buffett, Honeywell CEO David Cote and Indycar driver Tony Kannan. Jeanne was also hired to manage the NYSE’s broader content calendar, to produce social media content to promote new listings and special events, to live tweet from various events, and to ghostwrite articles and blogs for NYSE executives.

Jeanne was recruited back to a corporate position in 2013 at Morgan Stanley, the world’s largest securities firm, where she deepened her marketing skills and became a key change driver in the firm’s digital transformation. In this role, she identified content gaps and opportunities and created content to help fill them, including articles for morganstanley.com, preapproved social media messages for financial advisors and the corporate LinkedIn, Twitter and Instagram accounts. She managed the editorial calendar for the Wealth Management division’s content channels and launched a portal for pitch books and client presentations. Jeanne also developed tools and executed marketing and communications plans to help financial advisors better serve women, millennials, LGBT and business owner clients.

In 2016, her entrepreneurial spirit lulled her back to Working With Words full time, though she continues to write and consult for Morgan Stanley and Ricciardi Group, among other clients, with her deep understanding of the needs – and pain points – of financial services firms, investment advisors, and small business owners. She also launched a hometown magazine, East Fishkill Living, in 2017, and loves shining a light on the amazing people and things happening in her community, where she is raising her twin boys. She sees it as a privilege to be able to use her writing skills and magazine experience to bring her neighbors together and help local small businesses grow.

Jeanne holds an MBA in Finance and Communications/Media Management from Fordham University and earned her bachelor’s in English and Rhetoric from Binghamton University after transferring there from Dutchess Community College. She is a member of the Women’s Professional Network, the American Society of Business Publication Editors, New York Women in Communications and Beta Gamma Sigma, the honor society for collegiate schools of business. She is also past vice president of the Hudson Valley Early Ford V8 Club, which she joined in 2004 to carry on her father’s memory, and sometimes can be found at local car shows on weekends polishing her muscle cars.

Cheryl Castro

Cheryl brings a wealth of experience to Working With Words, gained through 20 years in the financial services and payments industry, during which she focused on end-to-end product development and product lifecycle management, following product management principles to drive excellence. This included all steps from consumer research and user experience testing to final product design, and all elements with partners. Her writing talent to support these products often showcased in sales and marketing resources.

Cheryl developed a keen skill for leading cross-functional teams by working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve success in her programs. One of her favorite programs was the Fuel Rewards card benefit, which she managed end-to-end, including sales team support, driving bank engagement and ultimately increasing scale of the program. Her most recent programs include developing new value-add features and benefits for millennials and other mass market consumers. Cheryl also wrote a series of educational materials to help banks better serve underbanked, new to credit, millennials and damaged credit consumers. Her guiding philosophy moves beyond merely launching a product; it reflects a passion for ensuring that the end product delivered is innovative, of the highest quality, and serves the needs of the customer.

Her various roles have given her experience in the U.S. and globally. Whether domestic or international, Cheryl has a passion for fully understanding the market and bringing new programs to life.

Lauren Fitzgerald

Lauren Fitzgerald

With experience in publishing and education, Lauren is committed to making her community a better place. After receiving her bachelor’s in Mass Communication from Towson University, she began her publishing career in New York in the advertising sales department of the nation’s third-largest weekly magazine. In this role, Lauren supported the advertising managers, compiled weekly advertising schedules, coordinated clients’ materials with production and assisted subscribers with customer service issues.

Lauren became an advertising account executive for one of the world’s leading special-interest publishers, representing over 60 magazine titles. She built relationships with advertising clients and monitored their ad campaign schedules.

Although Lauren found her career in advertising fulfilling, she longed to make a change that would positively affect her community. Lauren was raised in the Hudson Valley by two seasoned educators who exemplified the positive impact of teachers. This inspired her to attain a master’s in Elementary Education from the University of Bridgeport. Lauren worked with children of all abilities from kindergarten through fifth grade and was dedicated to creating a positive learning environment for her students.

Lauren’s most rewarding role is that of mother to her children. After some time as a stay-at-home parent, Lauren knew it was time to get involved with the local school district and became a mentor, meeting weekly with a child in need of a positive adult relationship. Lauren went on to become the program’s co-director and is responsible for recruiting, screening, training and supervising volunteer mentors who make a difference in the lives of children.

Lauren is proud of her Hudson Valley hometown and was excited when the opportunity arose to highlight its positivity within the pages of East Fishkill Living magazine. Lauren enjoys gathering relevant community news, compiling a monthly events calendar and interviewing locals for neighborhood interest stories.

In her free time, Lauren likes crafting, walking on the Dutchess Rail Trail and doing yoga. When her busy family has time to get away, they escape to New Jersey’s beautiful beaches.

Jennifer Coleridge Kleczynski

Jennifer Coleridge Kleczynski

Jennifer, who has been on the Working With Words team since inception, is an accomplished communications consultant with more than 25 years of experience with researching, writing and editing content for an array of companies, formats, publications and audiences. She enjoys interviewing others to help share their stories. In fact, she’s written more than 700 feature articles for various publications, including Central New Jersey’s Courier News. Her other clients have included the New York Stock Exchange, JPMorgan and Princeton University.

Jennifer earned her bachelor’s in English/Journalism from Ohio University and found her passion for words studying literature. Feeling at home in libraries and bookstores since childhood, she always knew writing in some form would be her livelihood. From being transported to London in her favorite book, Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol, to reading an informative article in New York magazine, Jenn relishes the talents and effectiveness of good writing and strives to inspire readers in her work. It was during an internship at McCall’s magazine where Jennifer found her niche in feature-article writing over literature.

Jennifer is a member of New York Women in Communications and recently re-joined Network of Writers and Artists (NOWA), which she helped co-found in the late 1990s with local, self-employed creative professionals.

During her two daughters’ younger years of school, Jennifer kept her love for books going by chairing their school’s Scholastic Book Fair for several years and has run a book club with friends for over the past 10 years. She also enjoys tennis, watching her equestrian daughters ride and now cheers on the football and equestrian teams of Penn State, where her oldest daughter attends. As a family, they enjoy travel and, once huge Disney fans, now prefer the California coast for quality time together.
